LKQ Corporation HR Support Specialist

Serve as the first point of contact for HR inquiries, providing Tier 1 support to employees via Workday Help, phone, and email. Responsible for resolving routine HR questions (pay, benefits, policies, onboarding, data updates), maintaining accurate case documentation, and escalating complex issues to the appropriate Tier 2 or COE partner. This role is central to delivering a positive employee experience and ensuring compliance with HR processes and regulations.

Essential Job Duties

  • Review and respond to Workday Help cases and inbound HR phone calls, resolving at Tier 1 where possible or escalating appropriately.
  • Provide accurate, timely, and professional responses to employee questions regarding pay, benefits, onboarding, policies, and general HR inquiries.
  • Track and document all case activity and manager self service events in Workday Help, ensuring accurate routing and escalation.
  • Identify recurring issues and share insights with HRIS, Payroll, and COEs to improve processes.
  • Support compliance requirements including I-9, background scoring, labor law posters, and other HR-related compliance tasks.
  • Assist with benefits enrollment for new hires/rehires and provide guidance on employee benefit questions.
  • Provide employee data and information as requested by Legal and HR Business Partners.
  • Ensure employee data integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to service-level targets for case resolution.
  • Contribute to Tier 0 content (FAQs, knowledge base articles) to improve employee self-service and reduce repeat inquiries.
  • Provide support in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) to ensure system accuracy and functionality for new releases and system configuration changes.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Not responsible for supervising employees.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 1+ years of related experience required.

Preferred Requirements

  • Workday experience
  • Associate's Degree

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages and to draw and interpret graphs.
  • Frequent use of Outlook, Word, Excel, graphics, etc. Ability to create, maintain and incorporate functions into Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, databases, and Powerpoint presentations to support business objectives.
  • Regularly uses moderately complex oral and written skills. May train others in functional areas, interact with others and make presentations to department or middle management.
  • Problems encountered are routine, somewhat repetitive and generally solved by following clear directions and procedures.
  • Decisions generally affect own job or assigned functional area.
  • Results are defined; sets personal own goals and determines how to achieve results with few or no guidelines to follow; supervisor/manager provides broad guidance and overall direction.
  • Handle multiple tasks or projects simultaneously with moderate complexity.
  • No additional competencies required.

Essential Physical Demands/Work Environment

  • Work is primarily sedentary: must be able to sit for extended periods of time and use a computer, keyboard, and mouse, frequently.
  • Travel may be required periodically, including overnight stays (contingent on position requirements).
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
