An Aggregate Service Technician repairs and maintains heavy equipment used in aggregate production, such as crushers and screens. This role involves hands-on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical work, often at job sites, with a focus on troubleshooting and minimizing equipment downtime. Key skills include strong mechanical aptitude, the ability to read schematics, and physical capability for heavy lifting and working in outdoor conditions.

The ideal candidate will also possess 3 – 5 years' experience of Iron Work/Engineered Building Erection.

Job duties:

  • Diagnose and repair: Troubleshoot and fix mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical problems on aggregate production equipment like crushers and screens.
  • Perform maintenance: Conduct both major overhauls and minor repairs, such as changing fluids or fixing leaks.
  • Ensure optimal performance: Work to ensure the equipment runs efficiently and to minimize downtime for customers.
  • Travel to job sites: Many roles require traveling to customer locations to perform repairs.
  • Use tools and technology: Utilize a variety of tools and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints to complete work.
  • Collaborate: Work with production personnel to understand equipment operation and with other technicians to diagnose issues.
  • Reading Blueprints: Interpret and understand blueprints and schematics to determine the specifications and requirements for construction projects.
  • Installation and Assembly: Install and reinforce iron and steel structures, including beams, girders, and columns, ensuring they are secure and meet design specifications.
  • Operating Equipment: Use various tools and machinery, such as cranes, welding machines, and cutting torches, to cut, bend, and weld metal components into desired shapes and positions.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Inspect and maintain existing iron and steel structures, performing repairs as necessary to ensure their longevity and safety.

Skills and qualifications:

  • Technical skills: Strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems; experience with heavy equipment is often required.
  • Problem-solving: Excellent diagnostic and troubleshooting skills are essential.
  • Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required, with a technical degree or certification being preferred.
  • Physical ability: Must be able to lift heavy objects and work in various outdoor conditions. Must also be comfortable with confined spaces and heights.
  • Soft skills: Good communication and interpersonal skills are important for interacting with customers and team members.
  • Certifications: Depending on the role, certifications such as OSHA compliance or a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) may be beneficial or required.
