Field Service Tech Lead
Liquid Environmental Solutions (LES) offers career progression for all team members. The Field Service Tech – Lead (FST – Lead) is an experienced individual with at least three years of LES-related experience and is considered the senior-most FST position. The FST - Lead is responsible for training new FSTs and FSTs looking forward to growing a career and being promoted within the field. All FST-Leads must keep strong safety & compliance standards and an excellent work ethic and attitude while maintaining a high level of performance and productivity.
The primary function of an FST - Lead is to deliver excellent service to customers while representing the Company professionally and courteously. The FST - Lead will provide the following services: grease traps and oil-water separators, used cooking oil collection, non-hazardous industrial wastewater collection and/or food & beverage waste collection. In addition, the FST - Lead will be a trainer and mentor to new hires or less experienced field service technicians, including FST - Lead trainees.
During the execution of service, the FST - Lead will continue to be responsible for compliance with all DOT, state regulations, company safety and compliance policies, and compliance with all customer and company-related requirements. As an FST - Lead, the expectation is to lead by example.
The FST Lead position offers one of the developmental steps to the employee willing to grow into a management (Supervisor or Manager) position. The growth opportunity will be based on performance, demonstrated behavior aligned to the Leadership Standards, and open positions available. LES will stress hiring from within and progression of Lead FST into available supervisory roles.
Essential Functions
- Always work in a safe and compliant manner.
- Makes all assigned stops or maintains DNS (did not service) to a minimum, calls in for add-ons, and completes full routes for the maximum capacity.
- Clean all assigned grease traps/oil-water separators to specifications and customer-specific requirements.
- Must be an expert in using the tablet technology for each service as required by management.
- Must be an expert (to go person) in the understanding and delivery of the grease trap value proposition and all lines of service.
- Must be an expert in completing sludge judge readings as the customer requires.
- Must complete grease trap inspections for each and every service provided.
- Must be an expert in the safe and proper line jetting of a grease trap or oil-water separator.
- Industrial FST must follow all company & safety policies.
- Must complete a daily pre-trip and post-trip using the electronic DVIR system.
- Must collect, fill out and keep in good order all required paperwork each day.
- Maintain a good driving record for personal and business driving.
- Maintain a current valid Class A CDL license and a tanker endorsement.
- Meet and maintain all DOT and Company physical and medical requirements.
- Complete required safety training.
- FST – Lead is on-call, meaning that any phone calls for issues or questions throughout the night will go to the FST - Lead.
- Provide on-the-job training for new team members, FST II and FST III positions while assuring they are fully capable of meeting the requirements of that position. Also, provide ongoing mentoring to all team members. To go person for all FST questions.
- Minor maintenance on vehicles.
- Capable of operating all types of equipment at the location.

Requirements
- Current Class A CDL license and tanker endorsement.
- Three years of commercial driving experience and tanker endorsement.
- Three years of LES experience in grease traps, oil-water separators, used cooking oil, and food & beverage waste collection.
- Understands all standard operating procedures and qualifies as certified.
- Completes all required training modules on Safety & Compliance annually.
- Demonstrated good understanding of meeting expectations on the following:
- Safety and Compliance
- Customer Service
- Routing & Logistics
- Equipment maintenance and care
- LES administrative process, including regulatory paperwork and billing
- Demonstrates Leadership Standards. FST - Lead candidate is seen as informal leader by their peers.
- Ability to make decisions based on the needs of the business.
- Must show steady improvement in safety & compliance, performance, and productivity.
- Must complete the training certification for grease trap cleaning, line jetting, sludge judge reading, and SLP modules.
- Complete the training and can communicate the LES Leadership Standards.
- Complete tablet training as a power user and certified as able to train new hires on tablet usage and expectations.
- Must have excellent transportation compliance and safety history.
- Cannot have any customer complaints and must meet expectations on the annual review.
