Azure Cloud Architect

Position Overview: The incumbent is responsible for architecting, designing, deploying, and managing Microsoft Azure Government cloud solutions, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS services, while ensuring alignment with organizational architecture and cloud strategy. This role provides hands-on technical leadership, implementing migrations from on-premises environments, managing hybrid cloud infrastructures, and delivering secure, cost-effective, and scalable cloud solutions.

Duties:

• Architect, design, deploy, and manage Azure Gov IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS solutions.
• Implement and maintain Azure Gov Cloud tenant, including migrating workloads (VMware) from on-premises to cloud.
• Manage product/platform architectures and ensure project designs follow the established architectural vision.
• Conduct analysis, design, and implementation of infrastructure and cloud data center solutions, including computing, networking, routing, and security.
• Design and support hybrid cloud and virtualized computing environments.
• Communicate and evangelize architectural vision across teams.
• Provide technical leadership for complex projects and guide team direction.
• Develop and manage a cloud strategy and oversee its organizational adoption.
• Monitor and manage Azure Gov service costs, implementing tagging strategies for resource management, cost reporting, and compliance.
• Administer and support core Microsoft technologies: Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory, Identity and Access Management, DNS, SQL.
• Design, build, upgrade, and decommission Windows and Linux systems and services, including Azure AD, Azure Storage (Blob, Files, Disks), App Services, BCDR, Networking (vNets, Subnets, ExpressRoute), and Virtual Machines.
• Liaise with third-party suppliers and support providers to resolve issues within SLA.
• Create documentation for technical and non-technical audiences while multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Utilize RESTful APIs, Web Services, XML, and JSON for integration and automation.
• Employ Azure CLI, PowerShell, ARM Templates, and IaC tools (Terraform, Ansible, CloudFormation) for infrastructure management.
• Apply Azure DevOps practices including CI/CD, automated testing, and security configurations.
• Monitor cloud environments with Azure Log Analytics, Azure Monitor, and Application Insights.
• Support application migrations and hybrid network solutions with deep knowledge of networking, security, and routing protocols.
• Develop scripts in PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar; Pyspark experience preferred.
• Manage relational databases such as MS SQL.
• Exercise independent judgment, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and maintain high attention to detail.
• Prioritize and execute tasks effectively under pressure while maintaining strong customer service and teamwork orientation.

Required Skills:

• 3+ years of experience in design and maintenance of public or government cloud solutions.
• 3+ years of experience providing IT administration and/or engineering services managing Windows and Linux servers and services.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts, including IP subnetting, Network Security Groups, routing, Azure Firewall, load balancing, and DNS.
• Excellent technical architecture skills, enabling the creation of future-proof, complex global solutions.
• Expert knowledge of Azure CLI, PowerShell, ARM Templates, Azure Networking, Azure Virtual Networks, and Site-to-Site VPN.
• Intermediate knowledge of Azure DevOps configuration and management
• Microsoft AZURE Certification in specialized areas is a must
