IT Systems Integration Support Technician

Please note that this position is 100% on-site and has 40%-60% travel requirements.

Job Summary

The Linamar IT Bullpen Program is a technical development program meant to nurture talent and provide support for other IT departments. Participants rotate between different roles for one to two years. This rotation begins as a Desktop Support Technician for basic training and understanding of Linamar IT systems and processes. The rotation may further expand to any Corporate IT department based on current needs and the participant's competencies. The participant would work to identify any areas of improvement and may be tasked with developing and presenting IT documentation, standards, & procedures. The participant will be expected to teach new Linamar IT staff, communicate information to business leaders and sponsors, and temporarily fill position vacancies. Participants will assist with ongoing IT projects and integrations. These projects and integrations may require long periods of travel. Thus, a valid passport and being able to travel globally is a requirement. Participants will create technical learning objectives and will participate in training to aid their professional development. They will do this while working towards the end goal of graduating from the Bullpen through filling a vacancy or new position within IT.

Responsibilities

  • Candidates will begin their rotation and position on the Bullpen by learning the duties and responsibilities of a Desktop Support Technician
  • Rotate and work with a specific Corporate IT department, based on which department requires support and the candidate's skills & experience. The possible roles that they may graduate into and/or rotate to work with are the following: Desktop Support Technician Network Administrator System Administrator Cyber Security Engineer Application Administrator Business Analyst System Analyst Application Developer Project Manager
  • Partial duty responsibilities for the above roles, as required based on the current rotation.
  • Coordinate, communicate, plan, and present with/for various stakeholders, such as business leaders, vendors, consultants, IT Directors, Managers, and Supervisors.
  • Manage the IT integration budget, timeline, scope, constraints, quality, and provide regular reports on the progress and issues to management and sponsors.
  • Identify and mitigate risks and challenges associated with IT integrations, such as data migration, system compatibility, security compliance, and change management.
  • Provide guidance and support to the IT teams of both entities and facilitate the knowledge transfer and collaboration among them.
  • Work to ensure the smooth transition of IT operations and services to Linamar for the acquired companies.

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • A Diploma or Degree in an IT field
  • Previous Co-op, Internship or Summer experience in a related IT position
  • IT certifications will be considered an asset

Required Skills/Experience

  • This is an entry level position for new graduates that have previous relevant IT experience from Co-op, Internship or Summer positions.

Communication

  • Good verbal and written communication skills are a necessity. Understanding when to email, call, or meet face-to-face is very important.
  • Ability to communicate at a technical and non-technical level based on audience.
  • Ability to read and understand technical and non-technical documents.
  • Ability to comprehend communications from customers, co-workers, and management.

Travel

  • 40% - 60%. The candidate will be on rotation and/or on assignment traveling to global Linamar locations. Work travel may involve being away for one or two months at a time, depending on the assignment.
  • A valid passport and ability to travel globally will be required.

Skills

  • Excellent time management and self-discipline

  • Ability to identify issues and areas of improvement and act proactively
