How you'll contribute

A Director of Surgical Services who excels in this role will perform each essential function satisfactorily with or without a reasonable accommodation and directs the department's activities and resources to achieve departmental and organizational objectives such as:

  • Develops and implements departmental goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, legal, and ethical requirements/objectives of the organization
  • Directs and evaluates departmental operations, including patient care delivery, information technologies, service level determination, and complaint management, to achieve performance and quality control objectives
  • Plans and monitors staffing activities, including hiring, orienting, evaluating, disciplinary actions, and continuing education initiatives
  • Prepares, monitors, and evaluates departmental budgets, and ensures that the department operates in compliance with allocated funding. Coordinates and directs internal/external audits
  • Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth
  • Integrates evidence-based practices into operations and clinical protocols
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Position serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors
  • Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information
  • Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA)
  • Skilled in the application of policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of Business Office Standards and Recommended Practices
  • Manage the work of others, including planning, assigning, scheduling and reviewing work, ensures quality standards
  • Responsible for hiring, terminating, training and developing, reviewing performance and administering corrective action for staff

What we're looking for:

Applicants should have a current state RN license and possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited nursing school.

Additional requirements include:

  • Basic Life Support certification is required within 30 days of hire.
  • ACLS and PALS are required within six months of hire.
  • One year of experience preferred
  • ASLS certification preferred
