Job Summary: Facilitates the safe and efficient performance of surgical procedures.

Company Description: Frye Regional Medical Center, located in the beautiful foothills of North Carolina is a 355-bed acute care hospital, 81-bed Behavioral Health facility and more than 70 primary and specialty care providers.

Essential Functions: Coordinator

  • Oversee daily operations of the neurosurgery service line to ensure smooth clinical workflow.
  • Coordinate scheduling for neurosurgeons, advanced practice providers, and support staff.
  • Monitor case volumes, block time utilization, and surgical throughput to optimize efficiency.

Clinical & Patient Care Support

  • Facilitate continuity of care across pre‑op, intra‑op, and post‑op phases.
  • Support patient navigation, including referrals, follow‑ups, and care coordination.
  • Ensure compliance with clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with resolving patient concerns and improving overall patient experience.

Program Development & Performance Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and lead initiatives to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop strategic growth plans for the neurosurgery program.

Provider & Staff Support

  • Act as the point of contact for neurosurgeons regarding operational needs and resource allocation.
  • Facilitate communication between physicians, nursing, administration, and support teams.
  • Assist with staffing needs, competency tracking, and workflow optimization.

Administrative & Financial Responsibilities

  • Manage supply utilization, equipment needs, and vendor relationships.
  • Support development of policies, procedures, and documentation standards.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for leadership on service line performance.

Essential Functions: CST

  • Prepares surgical operating suite with drapes, solutions, instruments, equipment and supplies. Ensures good working order of equipment and instruments.
  • Performs the role of the scrub technician.
  • Uses principles of aseptic technique to establish and maintain a sterile field
  • Facilitates efficient completion of the surgery schedule.
  • Maintains organized work area and participates in daily unit duties.
  • Competent in at least 3 specialty areas.

Minimum Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required

Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Licenses:

    • Certification for Surgical Technology with the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting.
    • Competent in at least 3 specialty areas.
