LIFELENZ is an automated workforce and human capital management platform solving challenges related to onboarding, sales & labour forecasting, scheduling & time clock/keeping, insights & reporting and labour law compliance. It uses machine learning to automatically self-tune and self-manage models to a particular store with hyper-local attributes. The technology approach and analytic methodologies used enable the distribution across large-scale centralized ownership and highly fragmented franchised ownership companies.
Purpose
You will be an integral part of a cross-functional product team comprising an engineering team lead, tester, UX designer, backend engineers, and fellow web developers. Your ideas and innovative suggestions matter and will be crucial in improving our web platform, code quality and development processes.
This role offers a unique growth path where you can deepen your understanding of the full technology stack, contribute to architectural decisions, and develop skills in other areas of the platform. Day to day you will be contributing to our platform which consists of several single page applications built with React and Aurelia with a GraphQL Ruby on Rails backend.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop engaging visual interactions that help organizations make effective decisions from their data, and take action on the data, directly within LIFELENZ Single Page Web Applications.
- Explore new and emerging web technologies to deliver engaging, immersive, and meaningful user experiences.
- You will work with the support of an Engineering Team Lead, Web Tech Lead and fellow software engineers working to bring new features to market by collaborating on requirements, confirming specifications, and developing appropriate production-grade implementations that operate at scale for a global user base.
- On a daily basis you will actively participate in a fast-paced software development process as part of an agile product engineering team, writing and reviewing code primarily in typed JavaScript (i.e. TypeScript).
- You will interact with UX / UI designers, product managers, architects and test analysts for this product to clarify requirements, understand scope changes that arise from time to time, debug complex issues and resolve bugs.
Knowledge, Experience & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years' development experience and strong experience working with complex/feature-rich Single Page Applications (e.g. Aurelia, React, Vue), HTML, CSS, JavaScript/TypeScript, and modern web development concepts including:
- Unit and end to end testing strategies and frameworks.
- Performance profiling and optimisation.
- State management patterns and component-based architectures.
- Web application security best practices and accessibility standards.
- Demonstrated experience working with change management / version control systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and autonomy to identify issues, propose solutions, and drive initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
Highly Desired
- Knowledge of build tools and bundlers (Webpack, Vite, or similar).
- Demonstrated experience with CSS preprocessors, Tailwind, WebSocket, GraphQL.
- Experience or knowledge of application monitoring tools (Sentry, BugSnag, APM).
- Demonstrated experience driving code quality improvements and technical initiatives through hands-on development.
- Design system implementation with tools such as Figma, Storybook and Chromatic.
- Demonstrated experience working on complex products, large codebases, Monorepos, framework migrations and modernisation efforts.
- Broad knowledge and interest in web technologies such as PWA, Micro Front Ends, etc.
Nice to have
- Experience and knowledge of backend development including architecture patterns, API design principles, and server-side technologies (Rails, Node.JS, Python, Java, or similar)
- Experience with Docker, containerisation technologies, and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes or similar).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated deployment strategies.
- Experience with feature flags, web analytics and A/B testing.
