Tax Support Coordinator

LHH is proactively seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Tax Support Coordinator to join our client's team in the Houston area. This role will support daily tax department operations by coordinating filings, managing documentation, maintaining compliance calendars, and ensuring timely support for audits and departmental needs. You will interact regularly with internal teams, prepare reporting materials, and help maintain structure within a fast-moving, multi-jurisdiction tax environment. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and experienced in administrative, project coordination, or tax support roles—someone who thrives in a structured setting and enjoys keeping processes organized and moving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage calendars, meetings, and communications for the Tax Director.
  • Prepare and organize tax packets, filing materials, reports, and presentations.
  • Maintain tax compliance calendars, deadlines, and departmental tracking tools.
  • Coordinate project timelines and audit-related tasks with cross-functional teams.
  • Build and update advanced Excel workbooks (PivotTables, VLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, Power Query).
  • Manage tax documents, filing records, and audit support materials.
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders across Tax, Finance, Legal, and Operations.
  • Draft professional correspondence and maintain organized department files.
  • Support process improvements and special departmental initiatives.
  • Ensure accuracy, consistency, and timely completion of all assigned tasks.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in tax support, project coordination, administrative support, or a similar role.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Candidates must complete Microsoft Office and skills assessments through LHH prior to consideration.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Experience with tax processes, compliance, or audit coordination preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with Avalara, OneSource, Salesforce, or Power BI is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, prioritize tasks, and manage shifting deadlines.
