Cyber Security Engineer

Your new role and responsibilities include:

• Develop and implement security controls, standards, mitigations and solutions supporting Defence operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory controls and IT Security Engineering policies.
• Partner with GRC, Security Architecture, SOC analysts and other Engineering branches to strengthen overall security posture and maintain high-standard operational security monitoring systems.
• Provide assurance and design feedback across multiple technical disciplines, focused on achieving strong IT security outcomes and effective technical controls.
• Harden environments across Microsoft, Linux and Cloud platforms to enhance security across the CP managed environment.
• Support and enable Defence Community members to meet their objectives when working on CP Managed systems.

About you and what you'll bring:

• Experience in two or more IT domains, such as midrange systems, networks, end-user computing, automation, or similar technical areas.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Working understanding of the Essential 8, ISM controls, and the Defence Security Principles Framework (DSPF).
• Highly desirable: experience in Cybersecurity areas such as Application Control, Application Hardening, EDR, Observability, and Vulnerability Detection.
• Highly desirable: familiarity with tools/technology areas including Trellix EPO, Splunk, Ansible, Tenable, Enterprise Linux, Apache NiFi, Enterprise Networks, Network Security.

This role does require the successful applicant to be an Australian Citizen and hold a NV-2 level security clearance. Those currently holding an NV-1 will also be considered if willing to uplift to NV-2.
