Minimum NV2 willing to uplift to TSPV + DISA, located in Canberra

Due to the nature of the role, you must be an Australian Citizen who holds an active NV2 & be willing to uplift to TSPV security clearance; accompanied by the ability to be successful for a DISA/OSA.

Do Work That Matters

The GEO SPACES IT Security Operations Lead is identified as a Key Governance Role in the Information System Security Management Plan under the GEO SPACES contract.

It will report directly to the GEO SPACES Security Manager and be capable of operating independently within the scope of their duties:

Your New Role and Responsibilities

Leading delivery of the following services, leveraging a team of people ranging from cadets and graduates, through to highly experienced operators with 10+ years' experience in their field:

  • Monitoring, Detection and Response
  • Vulnerability Management and Cyber Threat Intelligence
  • IT Security Engineering including SIEM, Endpoint, Network, Gateway and Detection Engineering.
  • Provide the following support to the Security Manager and Leidos and External executive stakeholders:
  • Considered and substantiated advice regarding Security Operations matters at the strategic and tactical levels.
  • Review and approval of system changes within the scope of their role and the scope of the GEO SPACES contract.
  • Advocate for IT Security Operations' requirements in response to the evolving threat landscape, system changes available technologies.
  • Escalate matters that require support from Security Manager, GEO SPAQCES Program Manager or external authority

Support the GEO SPACES IT Security Operations workforce as follows:

  • Play an active role in defining skill sets and personal attributes required for successful delivery of the contracted services.
  • Supporting the employee lifecycle from recruitment and on-boarding through to cessation and off-boarding, noting this will include both Leidos and customer requirements.
  • Manage up to nine direct permanent employee reports within the Leidos organisation, including administrative support such as timesheet approvals, performance reviews and processing of expense claims.
  • Lead a team of 10+ people in the delivery of GEO SPACES IT Security Operations services.

Support the GEO SPACES IT Security Operations process and procedure as follows:

  • Take ownership of IT Security Operations based process and procedure under the GEO SPACES scope, and uplift and maintain as required to support effective delivery and compliance.
  • Engage with the GEO SPACES GRC Lead regularly to ensure cohesion in documentation, delivery an understanding of responsibilities between GRC and Security Operations.
  • Advocate for IT Security Operations based process and procedure within the GEOSPACES Security Services team and other relevant areas, escalating to the Security Manager when additional support or mediation is required.
  • Maintain an understanding of the technology to be provided to GEO SPACES IT Security Operations for the delivery of services and identify and escalate any gaps.
  • Support the Security Manager in developing business and operational cases to uplift technology due to not meeting GEO SPACES contracted requirements or otherwise not supporting the ability to deliver in scope services.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance existing technology to provide benefit to the customer and or Leidos, for consideration of the Security Manager. Benefits may include increased capability or efficiency gains for the customer or Leidos, alignment with key external stakeholders, addressing mandated requirements from broader Defence or relevant standards, etc).

What You'll Bring to Make An Impact

  • Must have 10+ years' experience in IT, 5+ years in an IT security operations context and 5+ years in delivery-based leadership roles.

  • Beneficial to have formal education in IT Security Operations related subjects from the last five years. These can be industry or institutionally based.

  • Beneficial to have formal qualifications and or experience in Security Officer (SO) roles within Defence or similar organisations.

  • Beneficial to have formal leadership and communication training, qualifications and or awards.
