The Space Division at Leidos has an opening for a Composites Materials And Process Engineer to work in our Decatur, AL production facility. This is an exciting opportunity to use your experience helping the team to develop new composite materials and processes along with techniques to support the Universal Stage Adapter in support of the NASA SLS program.
Primary Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for identifying the materials and developing, modifying, and evolving composite structure layup and bonding processes of carbon aluminum honeycomb panels. The position will be responsible for material review/selection based on program requirements and developing processes and procedures to support the standup of the processes for large scale aerospace hardware manufacturing. Responsible for communicating and directing changes and use of materials and process.
The candidate is required to perform planning, test execution, scheduling, and resource management. They will perform trade studies, support ground support equipment development, lead selection of materials and develop process, create test plans and procedures, and support engineering review boards. The candidate will work in an office and shop production environment. Candidate will be required to ascend/descend stairs and be able to lift fifty pounds.
