Audio Visual/Video Teleconference (AV/VTC) Engineer II

The AFNCR IT Services program provides support services for information systems for Headquarters Air Force (HAF), Air Force District of Washington (AFDW), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), Joint Chiefs of Staff, and other Air Force activities within the AFNCR.

Our mission is to support these critical organizations located at the Pentagon, Joint Base Andrews (JBA), Joint Base Anacostia-Bolling (JBAB), and other locations, leased spaces, and alternate sites. We ensure uninterrupted IT operations for senior leaders and national defense missions. This challenging, fast-paced, and rewarding environment demands excellence in IT Operations and Maintenance; Plans, Projects, and Engineering (PP&E); and National Military Command Center (NMCC) support.

As an Audio Visual/Video Teleconference (AV/VTC) Engineer II, you will play a vital role in supporting the implementation of new requirements, maintaining, and repairing video teleconferencing systems essential for key leaders to implement and provide command and control (C2) for decision makers. You will manage conference rooms, VTC endpoints, and related IT infrastructure, ensuring seamless and reliable communication capabilities. Your skills in network protocols, AV technologies, and design/integration will be crucial to our success.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide day-to-day operational support and maintenance for AV/VTC systems and equipment, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and repair.
  • Manage and maintain conference rooms, VTC endpoints (e.g., Cisco, Polycom, Crestron), and associated network infrastructure.
  • Install, configure, and test AV/VTC equipment, including cameras, microphones, displays, control systems, and network devices.
  • Troubleshoot network connectivity issues related to AV/VTC systems.
  • Implement and support network protocols used for AV/VTC communications.
  • Support the design, integration, and deployment of new AV/VTC systems.
  • Develop and maintain documentation for AV/VTC systems and procedures.
  • Provide technical support and training to users on AV/VTC equipment and software.
  • Coordinate with vendors and other IT teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Manage and track inventory of AV/VTC equipment and supplies.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols for AV/VTC systems.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest AV/VTC technologies and trends.
  • Provide on-call support as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
  • Current CompTIA Security+ Certification.
  • BS & 8 years of relevant experience OR a Masters and 6 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Willingness to support occasional after-hours work and participate in an on-call rotation, if needed.
  • Strong understanding of AV/VTC technologies, including video conferencing systems, audio systems, display systems, and control systems.
  • Experience with Cisco and/or Polycom video conferencing equipment.
  • Proficiency in troubleshooting network connectivity issues related to AV/VTC systems.
  • Knowledge of network protocols, including TCP/IP, SIP, H.323, and ISDN.
  • Experience with AV/VTC system design and integration.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Proficient with ServiceNow and/or Remedy.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in the Department of Defense
