The Role

As an Engineering Manager on our R&D Platform team, you'll be at the forefront of building scalable, reliable solutions that directly impact healthier lives. We're looking for a leader with a strong technical background in backend and platform thinking, who can guide our teams in building the foundational services and developer tools that empower the entire engineering organization.

You will lead high-performing teams, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement. Your expertise will be crucial in designing and delivering resilient platform services, while also mentoring engineers and helping them grow their careers. You'll partner with leaders across the company to drive platform adoption and ensure our technology stack meets the needs of a rapidly scaling health tech company.

In this specific role, you will be responsible for building League's platform configuration tool, and its adoption by other developers and customers. This tool is a generic framework that transforms the domain model into a UI based configuration author flow. Experience in building such or similar tools will be considered a significant asset.

In This Role, You Will:

  • Design & Development: Lead the design and development of robust platform services using a modern, cloud-native stack. You'll be hands-on in technical discussions, guiding the team toward elegant and resilient solutions.
  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with product and engineering leaders to define and execute a cutting-edge platform roadmap, balancing immediate project needs with long-term architectural investments.
  • Team Leadership: Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and autonomous team environment. You will mentor, coach, and grow high-performing engineers, ensuring successful project delivery and professional development.
  • Technical Problem-Solving: Proactively identify and mitigate project risks by providing technical guidance and effective problem-solving, acting as a key technical resource for your teams.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Build strong relationships with engineering, product, and business leaders to increase platform adoption and ensure alignment on technical priorities

About You:

  • 5+ years of experience building scalable backend software applications.
  • 3+ years of experience leading platform or internal developer tooling teams.
  • Technical Stack: Hands-on experience with our core technologies is a must. This includes a strong understanding of Go for backend services, Kubernetes for container orchestration, and working with cloud platforms like Google Cloud Platform (GCP). Experience in Web stack like React will be a huge advantage.
  • Data & Identity: Experience with MongoDB for data persistence and developing or integrating with authentication and authorization systems like OAuth.
  • Architectural Skills: Deep understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and API design

Security-Related Responsibilities:

  • Compliance with Information Security Policies
  • Compliance with League's secure coding practice
  • Ensure access management is performed in compliance with the employee's role and responsibilities
  • Responsibility and accountability for executing League's policies and procedures within the department/team
  • Notification of HR, Legal, Compliance & Security of any incidents, breaches or policy violations
