PLC Controls Engineer

A well-established systems integrator is seeking a Control Panel Design Engineer with strong project management capabilities and advanced PLC skills. The organization specializes in the design and implementation of PLC-based control and instrumentation systems for both industrial and municipal clients, with a significant focus on water and wastewater applications.

Responsibilities

Manage projects from conception to completion, ensuring high-quality deliverables and customer satisfaction.
Design control panels using AutoCAD 2D, including panel layouts and wiring diagrams.
Prepare and assemble project documentation such as cut sheets, bills of materials, and submittal packages.
Program PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems across various platforms (e.g., Schneider Electric Control Expert, Allen-Bradley Studio5000, Siemens Simatic, GE).
Perform onsite system startup, testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning activities.
Provide post-startup support and service, maintaining strong client communication and responsiveness.
Collaborate effectively within a small, cross-functional engineering team and comfortably wear multiple hats.

Qualifications

Proven PLC programming experience with one or more leading platforms (Schneider Electric, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, GE).
Proficiency with AutoCAD 2D is highly preferred.
Knowledge of power distribution equipment including MCCs, VFDs, and starters.
Familiarity with control panel components such as relays, timers, and pilot devices is a plus.
Understanding of instrumentation and controls used in the water/wastewater industry is advantageous.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and self-prioritize.
