Senior Director, Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture

The Senior Director, Infrastructure Engineering and Architecture is both a technical and team leader who oversees IT infrastructure management, operational excellence and performance optimization, develops enterprise security, compliance and risk management approaches. This leader also oversees vendor management, and leads with a focus on improving IT and employee productivity with GenAI and other AI related automation and business opportunities. This position is site-based in Bedford, MA and requires a presence on-site three days per week.
Key Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Develop and execute the long-term strategy for the IT infrastructure Engineering organization, aligning with business objectives and delivering supporting reference architectures.
- Lead the architecture design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud, on-premises, and hybrid infrastructure solutions.
- Drive innovation by adopting emerging technologies to improve efficiency, security, and scalability.
- Ensure high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning for mission-critical systems.
- Manage enterprise-wide networking, storage, servers, virtualization, backup and data center operations.
Operational Excellence & Performance Optimization
- Lead IT infrastructure teams in optimizing system performance, reliability, and uptime.
- Establish and enforce best practices for IT service management (ITSM) and operational excellence to optimize the Engineering backlog.
- Oversee infrastructure automation, monitoring, and proactive issue resolution.
- Implement and monitor KPIs, SLAs, and IT governance standards to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Lead the inclusion of AI into Lantheus Infrastructure as relevant leveraging models to develop POC's, leveraging existing solution AI prior to looking at external AI solutions
Security, Compliance & Risk Management
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to mitigate security risks and enforce best practices.
- Develop and maintain enterprise disaster recovery and incident response plans.
- Partner in IAM experience to help support OKTA optimizations including Okta Workflows and OKTA Identity Governance
- Implementation and support experience with security/infrastructure technologies such as Palo Alto, Zscaler (ZIA, ZPA, MS Copilot Data Protection, Zero Trust SD-WAN)
Team Leadership & Vendor Management
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of IT infrastructure professionals.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and partners.
- Oversee related IT procurement, budgeting, and cost optimization for infrastructure projects.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement
Technical Leadership
- Experience with SASE implementation and management
- Experience with HCI as well as experience with related non-VMWare hypervisor strategies like Acropolis
- Strong experience in global networking including SD-WAN and NaaS, regional datacenter design and global vs local site services as well as cloud optimization strategies including Megaport.
- Strong experience supporting Azure and Microsoft Infrastructures for Intune and Autopilot
- Experience in an omni-OS environment desired (Windows, MacOS and Linux)
- Experience with implementation and support of Rubrik desired
- Experience with MS tools including Defender, Purview, Azure AD and integrations
Productivity IT
- Lead a focus towards improving IT and Employee productivity with a focus on GenAI tools preferably with Microsoft Copilot as well as RPA and/or agentic AI. Experience with Grok, Google Gemini and other tools also desired
- Lead and have previous experience with automation around key business processes to minimize IT and HR work around onboarding and offboarding employees, contractors and interns
- Become a catalyst and evangelist for GenAI helping to aid the IT journey including partnering with security around appropriate policies and monitoring and with change management groups and teams around future business adoption.
- Experience with API driven automation and AI related business opportunities and optimizations and associated change management and adoption
Job Qualifications
- BS in computer science, Information Technology, or related field or equivalent experience
- Minimum 15 years' experience with 10+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including managing enterprise infrastructure.
- Strong knowledge of cloud computing concepts (Azure, Google Cloud or AWS).
- Experience with virtualization, hypervisors, storage solutions, compute, security and networking technologies.
- Proficiency in IT service management frameworks (ITIL).
- Familiarity with DevOps, automation, and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.
- Understanding of cybersecurity principles and compliance frameworks.
- Certifications such as ITIL, CISSP, AWS/Azure Solutions, or Cisco certifications preferred
- Experience in leading digital transformation and cloud migration initiatives.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
