Senior Quality Engineer, Electromechanical Devices (EMD)

We are seeking a Senior Quality Engineer for Electromechanical Devices (EMD) to join our team at Appliance Park in Louisville, KY. This role is full-time onsite and plays a key part in shaping supplier quality strategy across our EMD supply base.

The Senior Quality Engineer is responsible for every stage of the supplier relationship—from identifying new partners and qualifying their capabilities, to ensuring continuous improvement and supporting strategic business initiatives. You will help shape decisions that impact dual sourcing, tariff mitigation, and business development.

How You'll Create Possibilities

Develop Electromechanical Devices (EMD) expertise within the Supplier Quality (SQ) organization and facilitate strategy around NPI execution, qualification, drawing support, and EMD training with the controls SQ team.

Organize and facilitate global EMD strategy with Haier, GEA, Mabe, and F&P teams.

Own all aspects of quality engineering and project management for suppliers within your assigned commodity, including qualification, continuous development, and lifecycle management.

Use your technical expertise in design and manufacturing processes to partner with suppliers on optimal product and process improvements.

Lead the 9-step process using Lean/Six Sigma tools by collaborating with Technology to identify and resolve issues for new product introductions and design changes.

Conduct Critical Part Risk Reviews to evaluate system performance, reliability, and quality.

Lead projects involving supplier moves, process and material changes, and support design change projects.

Collaborate with EMD suppliers, OEMs, and manufacturing sites to drive business-wide improvements.

Identify new EMD processes, tools, and suppliers within the industry to advance our supply chain capabilities.

Champion data-driven quality initiatives by using Supplier Composite Scorecards and other tools to drive improvements in delivery, quality, and cost.

Monitor and resolve supplier process control performance issues by developing quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions.

Drive permanent resolution of manufacturing and consumer issues caused by supplier defects.

Lead Supplier Quality initiatives and develop activities to address underperforming suppliers through corrective actions or alternate qualification.

Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions through containment, SCAR, and other problem-solving methods.

Prepare clear and concise executive summaries for the Appliance Leadership Team.

Lead Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements associated with supplier or product changes.

Perform annual audits to assess supplier Quality Management System (QMS) compliance and effectiveness.

Identify opportunities for cost reduction through process and quality improvements, Variable Cost Productivity (VCP), and material optimization.

Develop and manage approval and control systems for the EMD supply base to drive sustainable improvements.

Leverage your expertise to influence sourcing strategy for global supplier EMD commodities.

What You'll Bring to Our Team

Minimum qualifications:

  • Engineering or technical degree (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) or equivalent technical experience.
  • 5 years of experience in supply chain, quality, and/or technical roles in a manufacturing environment.
  • 5 years of experience related to Electromechanical Devices (EMD).
  • Strong background in statistical tools for process and product development and control, including Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, PFMEA, and DOE.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
  • Experienced in problem-solving methods such as 8-D, 5 Whys, DOE, Fishbone, Pareto, Six Sigma, First Piece, and PPAP.
  • Hands-on experience with EMD physical evaluation and measurement techniques.
  • Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and lead change within a matrixed organization.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, up to 40%.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience with Electromechanical Devices (EMD) manufacturing processes.
  • Ability to simplify complex information and present concise executive summaries.
  • International work experience and/or multilingual capabilities (Chinese, Spanish, etc.).
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt).
  • GEA training program graduate (OMLP, TLP, EEDP).
  • Master's degree.
