Job Summary and Qualifications ER Flow Coordinator Nurse The Patient Flow Coordinator ensures high-quality, patient-centered care by facilitating the throughput of patients within the Emergency Department to provide optimum efficiency of department resources and timely management of patient care. The Patient Flow Coordinator evaluates the staffing matrix and patient volume patterns to identify optimal staffing schedules. The Patient Flow Coordinator supports patient safety initiatives and quality improvement activities that promote the vision, mission, and values of the organization.
What you will do in this role: Collaborates with all Emergency Department staff to ensure proper patient placement and facilitate patient movement throughout the department. Coordinates EMS transports and triage staff to facilitate timely room assignment and hand-off reports. Examines wait times for admission, testing, test results, and all other aspects affecting patient throughput. Analyzes staff efficiency patterns and time management related to patient treatment. Acts as a liaison between and with physicians, patients/family, hospital staff, and outside agencies in an effort to promote efficient patient flow. Monitors Emergency Department waiting room for surge conditions and implements solutions promptly. Performs direct patient care as needed, within the scope of the Registered Nurse Practice Act.
What qualifications you will need: Current RN licensure by TN Board of Nursing or a Board of Nursing from a compact state. Current BLS from the American Heart Association. ACLS and PALS within 1 year of employment. CPI within 6 months of employment. 2+ years applicable experience.
