Accountable for the safety of all employees for whom they are responsible through active engagement in safety activities and provides clear, consistent communication of safe work expectations. Supports and investigates situations in which line/equipment stoppage occurs due to perceived, imminent safety risk. Completes responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and procedures, and applicable laws. Actively leads risk assessment activities for their area of responsibility by driving prioritized corrective and preventive actions to eliminate/reduce environmental, health, or safety risks. Lead all required meetings with safety. Completes incident investigations, root cause analysis, and implements corrective actions accordingly in a timely and thorough manner. Ensures the proper training and development of all assigned employees for whom they are responsible. Sets goals for their organizational unit; achieves goals and ensures that all employees understand and work toward achieving goals. Motivates and coaches employees through good communication and frequent performance feedback. Identifies and coordinates additional training as needed. Responding to any emergency or potential emergency. Security diligence, including maintaining control of personal key cards, preventing unauthorized entry to the facility by non-Berry employees, and proper maintenance/security of Berry information and equipment within your direct responsibility. Constant vigilance and participation in Food Safety policies, practices, and procedures. Prevent nonconforming product from being shipped to customers. Identify and record problems relating to product, process, and quality system. Observe all Safety precautions, Food Safety requirements, and Plant rules to prevent injury to self or others and to prevent loss of material or damage to equipment. Follow and wear all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Maintain good housekeeping and 5S. Manage inspection staff, training Quality Lead Operator, and assisting in day-to-day operations. Perform reviews on inspection staff, with assistance and input from Quality Manager. Responsible for providing leadership and technical guidance to manufacturing and support teams to ensure product quality and reliability. Support the design and implementation of quality assurance systems (sampling procedures, training, evaluating and reporting quality data, corrective actions). Assist in customer complaint investigations by providing data support. Maintain inspection information systems and audit to assure continued compliance to procedures. Assure maintenance of Inspection Department Job Instructions and Test Methods. Develop and analyze statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product. Adhere to all company and departmental policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager.
Capable of physical mobility including sitting, bending, twisting, standing, and lifting up to 50 lbs. Maintain an attendance record within company guidelines and working required overtime. Read, write, and speak English. Past experience/proven ability within the specified disciplines. Negative drug screen test results. A./B.S. in Engineering, Operations, or Management preferred, or equivalent experience in manufacturing, project management, quality assurance, or operations management. 3 – 5 years of experience in technical capacity in Quality Assurance, manufacturing, design engineering, or related field. Familiarity with GMP, safety, and HACCP programs a plus. Must be able to analyze problems, conduct root cause analysis, and deliver effective solutions. Ability to train, motivate, and manage personnel. Must have excellent organizational skills with ability to complete multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Computer expertise including fluency in Microsoft Office applications.
This position serves as a back-up for the Quality Manager.
