Operating Engineer

We are seeking a dedicated Operating Engineer responsible for the overall maintenance of a 27-floor commercial building. This role involves performing preventative maintenance on mechanical HVAC systems, air handlers, water-cooled chillers, electrical, and plumbing systems. The engineer will also compile and submit monthly reports to keep building management informed of current operations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct preventative maintenance on HVAC systems, air handlers, chillers, and plumbing.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repairs on electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Compile and submit monthly reports to building management.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
  • Work overtime and be on call as required.

Essential skills include:

  • 5+ years of experience in a commercial property setting.
  • Experience with HVAC systems in a commercial environment.
  • Experience with air handlers and chillers.
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs of equipment.

Additional skills and qualifications include:

  • Universal EPA Certification.
  • Licenses or permits for specific trades.
  • Apprentice or Journeyman status or similar combination of education and experience.

Work environment:

The position operates on a 1st shift schedule from 6 AM to 3 PM or 7 AM to 4 PM. The role requires being on call one week per month.

Pay and benefits:

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
