Director, Human Resources

The Director, Human Resources will lead all activities, initiatives, and programs for the entire Mt. Royal site, supporting the plant director and acting as a key member of the plant management team. The Director, Human Resources works under the general direction of the Director, Human Resources – Canada, Quality, Procurement and Logistics, but is responsible for developing the HR strategy, talent management, overseeing site and community engagement, developing and maintaining site-specific policies, and ensuring compliance with labor laws and regulations.

The main areas of focus for this position will be leading efforts related to employee development and training, talent management, organizational effectiveness, change management, and cultural transformation; with the aim of achieving employee, cost, and operational success goals. The role will support approximately 950 employees while leading HR initiatives and directly mentoring HR managers of the functions. The role will lead a team of HR professionals.

Key functions and responsibilities include:

  • Leading the HR team: Directing a diverse and high-performing team of HR professionals (HR generalists, payroll, training, medical, etc.); providing guidance, advice, and mentorship to ensure team success, service, and optimal impact.
  • Managing HR processes: Owning and implementing HR processes, including workforce planning, compensation administration, organizational/efficiency change, process improvement, recruitment and development pipeline, training and development opportunities.
  • Talent: Leading talent development, collaborating with the business to implement recruitment plans, proactively managing recruitment levels and talent movements within functions, and being responsible for developing the succession plan for plant leadership roles.
  • Labor Relations: Managing labor relations by investigating, resolving, and communicating employee issues and concerns and establishing the positive labor relations strategy for the site.
  • Culture: Demonstrating Kraft Heinz’s mission, values, and initiatives and acting as a champion of change for the plant.
  • Employee Engagement: Building strong relationships with employees and advocating for their enrichment, engagement, and professional development.
  • Compliance: Upholding the application and interpretation of HR systems, policies, and programs, ensuring compliance with federal and provincial employment laws and regulations.
  • Analytics: Using data and analytics to inform key decisions in business and talent activities.
  • Strategy: Evaluating business challenges while developing and recommending solutions.

Expected experience and skills include:

  • Knowledge of HR fundamentals and ability to collaborate with all HR branches.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Good understanding of business, project management, and technical skills in work technologies and systems (e.g., Workday, Kronos, MS Office Suite, etc.).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and other key clients through data and analytics.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage teams through other people.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Adaptability – maintaining effectiveness in the face of changing priorities and tasks, ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.

Base salary for new hires: $171,400.00 - $214,200.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided for in the plan terms and documents governing the plan.

Compensation offered will take into account internal equity and may vary based on candidate’s geographic region, knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
