Process Control Engineer

Supporting the Mill to improve and maintain controls equipment accuracy and effectiveness in our Mill, which includes Power, Pulp, Paper Machines, and Converting process areas. The core responsibilities are working subject matter expert with Control Systems and associated hardware, software, and instrumentation for project as well as sustainability and continuous improvement efforts.

Support operations (production, maintenance, and engineering) through both the application of the process control systems and general troubleshooting of the processes.

Provide design, implementation, continuous improvement, and sustainability support for existing and new Process Control Systems implemented in both Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Control Systems (PLC) for the Mill.

Project management and support for both large and small improvement efforts.

Demonstrate strong technical knowledge by taking an active role in learning various jobs and processes, and be able to exhibit the appropriate knowledge and skills. May be required to train other team members in the skills, tasks, and duties within their areas of responsibility.

Be available for after-hours calls for Process Control.

Follow all safety policies and procedures, accept personal responsibility for own safety, and assist where you can with the safety of other team members.

Communicate and work with various operational, environmental, maintenance, and engineering levels in a team environment yet be self-motivated and accomplish individual goals.

Develop process control modifications that lead to improved safety, reduced costs, and improved efficiency.

Identify asset improvement opportunities that add value to Georgia-Pacific. Provide feedback/input on equipment conditions, potential failure risks, corrections, and additions to systems.

Demonstrate a level of performance that meets maintenance/shutdown requirements and standard expectations.

Perform all required administrative tasks as required (i.e. use of SAP, Ecosys, MOC, etc.) .

Contribute to the creation of long-term value by managing resources wisely, eliminating waste (i.e. stores materials, supplies, parts, tools, time, personnel), and taking the initiative to bring forward and resolve issues.

Perform as a team player; demonstrating cooperation, respect, and integrity to other team members, accepting responsibility and accountability, and promote continual improvement.

Must have strong organizational, detail, and time management skills.

Ability to organize, analyze, and process data and information in a clear and concise manner.

Ability to make decisions and work with little supervision.

Skills and experience with personal computers, including E-mail, personal scheduling, word processing, spreadsheet, and database skills.

Excellent verbal and written communication as well as interpersonal skills.

Highly motivated and self-directed.

4+ years hands-on engineering and application experience in industrial process control platforms and networks.

Bachelor of Science Degree in Pulp and Paper, Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.

Engineering and application experience with process control systems hardware/software/networking (Emerson Delta V, ABB Bailey, Siemens Moore APACS DCS, ABB Drive Systems, a plus).

More than five (5) years of experience in supporting process control systems in a Pulp and Paper mill.

Experience with network and server technology.
