We are developing optical alignment techniques and opto-mechanical assemblies for Wavelength Selective Switches (WSS).

We are looking for a Module Test Engineer to support our optical engineering design team. This person will be testing optical component and sub-system for large scale manufacturing. This person will report directly to our Director of NPI and Manufacturing Engineering.

What You Will Do

• Responsible for calibration and testing of all optical aspects of wavelength selective switch (WSS) modules
• Daily review of final test results of optical modules, identify root cause of failure modes, lead and drive corrective actions to improve yield and efficiency
• Troubleshoot technical issues associated with failing modules
• Maintain existing stations for in-process characterization and final test of WSS modules
• Review existing processes and enhance them to improve yield, cycle time and quality
• Create assembly instructions, process documentation, preventative maintenance plans, and control plans
• Train, certify, and audit technicians and operators to process documentation
• Monitor process performance using tools such as statistical process control (SPC)
• Key technical liaison for our manufacturing facility in Asia
• Responsible for resolving technical issues related to Calibration and Test stations in the design phase working with optical design and reliability teams, as well as in the scale-up phase with Contract Manufacturers (CMs)
• Support production line moves and/or new product introduction by coordinating quality, materials, tools, production line layouts, and process development

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

• Master's degree in Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics or related technical discipline
• At least two years manufacturing and testing of optical components
• Experience with optical performance parameters such as Bandwidth, IL, PDL, PMD, CD and Ripple and specification sensitivity and interdependencies – especially as they relate to agile optical networks
• Experience with a variety of optical test and measurement equipment such as OSAs, polarization controllers, interferometers, TLS, and ASE
• Experience with VB, Excel, database tools
• Experience with GPIB equipment and product lifecycle management and manufacturing systems
• Experience statistical analysis techniques using modeling tools such as Minitab
• Must be able to work in an environment of short notice changes, tolerate interruptions, and commit to extended work hours, as necessary
• Must be able to travel for several weeks at a time
