Automation Controls Engineer

Your Job

As a Controls Engineer at Molex, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and supporting advanced automation controls for our Transportation Innovative Solutions division. Your expertise will ensure that our manufacturing processes are efficient, reliable, and innovative. You will work in a collaborative, global environment with a solutions-focused mindset to deliver impactful automation solutions that align with business goals.

You will be part of a globally integrated automation and manufacturing team dedicated to advancing cutting-edge assembly technologies. Our team works closely with cross-functional partners to innovate and optimize manufacturing processes, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration.

What You Will Do

  • Design and develop controls solutions that improve manufacturing operations and product quality.
  • Create electrical and control panel designs that meet functional and safety standards.
  • Develop, debug, and optimize PLC and HMI programs, integrating with software subsystems.
  • Support system acceptance testing (SAT), installation, troubleshooting, and post-installation performance tuning.
  • Produce clear and concise documentation including SOPs, user manuals, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and IT/OT teams to translate process needs into automation specifications and ensure secure data flow.
  • Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in automation controls to maintain competitive advantage.

Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English with strong communication skills.
  • Associate of Applied Science degree or equivalent in Electronics or related field.
  • Availability to travel 10-30% domestically and internationally.
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize effectively in a dynamic environment.
  • Passionate about automation controls and continuous learning.

What Will Put You Ahead

  • Bachelor of Science in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 3+ years of industrial experience programming PLCs, HMIs, and servo controls.
  • Experience working in complex manufacturing or automation environments.
  • Strong collaboration skills with cross-functional and global teams.
