Quality Engineer

Position: Quality / Process Engineer – Foil & Lamination – Credit Cards

Position Summary: Coordinates, aids in and directs implementation of external and internal quality improvement programs to ensure quality production of products consistent with established standards. Direct collaboration with the quality, operations and process engineering departments will be essential.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Lead by example - promote a culture of safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Drive safety improvements through risk identification and elimination, as well as full compliance with daily risk assessment completion, leveraging support from other groups as needed.
• Complete required PASA audits for improving Behavior Based Safety, and drive team behaviors for continued safety awareness and practices.
• Point of contact for specific internal plant quality improvement initiatives involving card manufacturing operations as directed by Site Leadership.
• Primary resource for direct card customers, providing field support when needed and traveling to customer locations as required.
• Investigate complaints and recommend actions to Site Leadership.
• Maintain and improve product and process quality on the coating and lamination lines in the Foil & Lamination Department.
• Support / Develop processing targets, statistical validated process limits, and utilize tracking program to ensure compliance with optimal run conditions.
• Implement product evaluation plan for materials processed outside of required conditions.
• Drive the corrective action process.
• Provide thorough, timely and accurate responses to our customers.
• Drive continuous improvement using data analysis, statistical control and other available tools to identify areas of improvement in the card manufacturing activity in the plant.
• Assist production regarding customer complaints with respect to quality, tolerances, specifications, and delivered condition of products.
• Analyze production data and identify trends, proactively implementing solutions to prevent quality issues and optimize processes in the kp Foil & Lamination Department.
• Conduct departmental audits to determine compliance to SOPs and identify areas for improvement.
• Develop new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
• Keep plant management team abreast of significant issues and developments identified during quality assurance activities and actions being taken to improve the situation.
• Align with kp's strategic compass and core behaviors: Focus, Accountability, Respect, and Urgency.
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and/or Experience: Chemical or Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent from a four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
