Controls Engineer Opportunity

Dematic Canada is seeking a talented Controls Engineer to join our Canadian Controls Engineering team! The ideal candidate will have up to 2 years experience in controls engineering and is proficient in PLC programming, creating electrical layout and schematic, working with PLCs and HMIs (Ignition), and implementation and commissioning of engineering design projects. The candidate will be passionate about engineering projects through to completion, building relationships with customers, and undertaking opportunity in a growing industry and team!

Tasks and Qualifications

This Is What You Will Do In This Role:

  • Performs electrical layout/schematic design and creates description of operation
  • Prepares and releases order entry
  • Designs PLC program (AB & Siemens) and verifies PLC logic by emulation test
  • Designs visualization system through Ignition
  • Commissioning and testing of industrial material handling controls systems
  • Performs complex technical interchange and knowledge transfer for both processes and application of products to system operation and design
  • Performs full range of standard work for the professional field
  • Identifies and resolves more complex problems and applies problem-solving skills in order to deal with most situations
  • Participates in onsite pre-commissioning, commissioning, system integration & acceptance testing with our customer
  • Provides customer startup/standby support
  • Alerts Project Managers of any concerns and potential risks and works to address them with the greater project team

What We Are Looking For:

  • BS/BA in Electrical Engineering or related degree.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD Electrical a plus.
  • Proficient in Allen Bradley, or Siemens PLCs a plus.
  • Experience in Ignition a plus.
  • Knowledgeable on AC/DC drives a plus.
  • Experience in Ethernet IP network design and machine safety a plus.
  • Experience in Scanning Devices using Photo recognition and/or Placement photo eyes a plus.
  • Strong problem-solving skills; self-starter; detail-oriented; multitasking.
  • Ability to travel and work at customer job sites up to 40-60%.
