MEM Planning Junior Engineer

Reporting to the Senior Engineer and above to the Superintendent and Manager, the Junior Engineer helps support the development of a safe and productive mine, focusing on fully optimized methods, as well as the proper functioning of production functions or improving existing tools.

The Junior Engineer will be linked to one of the departments of the site according to his area of expertise.

Job Responsibilities

Includes but not limited to:

• Communicate and work effectively with all technical, operational, logistical, administrative and financial disciplines of the business.
• Training and supervising Technicians
• Identify, initiate, and implement process improvements that will contribute to the cost effectiveness, stability, process robustness and reliability of operations.
• Liaising with and advising managerial and technical staff
• Planning and coordinating the utilization of labor and equipment consistent with efficiency targets, statutes, safety guidelines and environmental conditions
• Using a range of specialist computer software for many tasks including evaluating, planning, costing and designing mines.
• Collect and provide analysis of various data and work outcomes with guidance from immediate supervisor and for a mentor
• Provide technical reports to various levels of management on specified issues
• Escalates issues requiring advanced expertise or knowledge about the broader business impact of decisions.
• Works with mentor on more advanced issues
• Provide comprehensive and timely contributions to the daily, weekly, monthly and annual reports.
• Design Presentation and material for meetings.
• Inspection tours with operations to plan/monitor progress.
• Monitoring and reporting on ongoing projects.
• Coordinate with other sections/departments to ensure that plans meets their requirements
• Co-ordination with managers to ensure that the monthly plan aligns with the budget/long range plan.
• Ensure that technical projects are planned, designed, implemented, communicated and tracked in order to deliver project work of a high professional standard that meets the requirements of the business and is delivered
• Coordinate with teams to ensure maximum utilization of production equipment.

Education, Experience and Skills

Mandatory Requirements for this position:

• Engineering degree in in the fields of Mechanics, Electricity. Electronics, Mechatronics, Maintenance, Metallurgy, Civil Engineering, Metallic Construction, Industrial Engineering, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Chemical engineering, etc.
• 0-3 year's previous experience in open pit mining operation highly valued.
• High skill level with Microsoft Office packages (Excel/ Power point/ Word etc.)
• Ability to read, write and speak English, Arabic and French.
• Excellent communication skills and the proven ability to facilitate group meetings.
• Strong leadership and a company oriented outlook.
• Mauritanian Driver's License.
