What Will I Be Bringing To Life In This Role?

Kinetic is seeking a Graduate AI Engineer with a T-shaped profile to join our Innovation Acceleration team, supporting our AI-led product development initiatives. We're looking for someone with deep expertise in a core AI area complemented by broader knowledge across related fields. This entry-level role offers an exceptional opportunity for a recent graduate to contribute to the integration of artificial intelligence capabilities across our student accommodation and event management platforms, while developing their skills under the mentorship of experienced AI professionals.

As a Graduate AI Engineer, you'll work alongside our Senior Innovation Acceleration Engineer and cross-functional teams to help reimagine our products through innovative AI solutions. You'll assist in identifying opportunities, developing prototypes, and implementing AI features that enhance user experiences and unlock new value for our higher education customers. This role provides a unique chance to shape the future of our products while building a strong foundation for your career in AI engineering.

What Will I Need To Hit The Ground Running?

T-Shaped Profile

We seek candidates with T-shaped skills: deep technical expertise in areas like AI orchestration or systems architecture (vertical bar), combined with broad cross-functional capabilities in customer understanding and business acumen (horizontal bar). This profile enables engineers to drive AI innovation through technical problem-solving while translating business requirements, communicating across departments, and maximising their organisational impact.

Educational Background

Recent graduate with a degree in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, or a related field. Demonstrated interest in AI through coursework, projects, or internships.

Programming Skills

Proficiency in Python or similar languages. Experience with data processing, analysis, and visualisation. Basic understanding of software development principles.

AI Knowledge

Foundational understanding of machine learning concepts, large language models, and AI application patterns. Familiarity with AI frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Hugging Face).

Problem-Solving

Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Capacity to approach business challenges with a creative, solution-oriented mindset.

Learning Agility

Demonstrated ability to quickly acquire new skills and adapt to evolving technologies. Proactive approach to self-development and learning.

Communication

Clear communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts to diverse audiences. Strong collaboration and teamwork orientation.

Project Work

Evidence of successful completion of academic or personal projects involving AI, machine learning, or data science.

Desirable skills/experience:

  • Experience with cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCP) and their AI/ML offerings
  • Knowledge of Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) or similar AI implementation approaches
  • Familiarity with software-as-a-service (SaaS) business models
  • Understanding of the higher education sector or student accommodation operations
  • Experience with agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of AI ethics considerations and responsible AI implementation
  • Contributions to open-source projects or AI research
