Manufacturing Engineer

You will lead the development, implementation, of new manufacturing processes, support existing manufacturing processes, drive improvements while meeting goals of quality, cost and delivery for our customers. In addition, this position supports continuous improvement by performing product/process analysis for cost reductions and improved efficiency. This is an onsite position that reports to the Manufacturing Engineer Team Lead.

You will work on the most important projects in the facility. As a diversified contract medical device manufacturer this position offers a candidate the opportunity to work on some of the markets most exciting products. You will contribute to our company's overall success by developing manufacturing process, designing tooling/equipment, conducting tests, troubleshooting and creating solutions to challenging problems. The Manufacturing Engineer will work within a customer focused team to meet and exceed our customer's expectations. You will have the opportunity to further enhance your skills by working with all levels of the organization while gaining knowledge and experience in areas outside the Manufacturing Engineering department. In our business, it is critical the candidate can demonstrate a solid understanding of the importance of quality and regulatory requirements.

Considerations for this outstanding opportunity to support the manufacture of life saving devices will be given to candidates who possess a desire and motivation for medical device manufacturing, are knowledgeable of ISO13485 and FDA regulations, have experience with cleanrooms, understand production process validation, are self-driven, desire to solve problems, have the ability to implement effective solutions, possess an understanding of Lean Manufacturing Methodologies, possess a 4 year degree in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering from an accredited program, 3-5 years minimum experience in Medical Device Manufacturing and have a solid understanding of the medical device regulatory requirements and the challenges it presents.

Key Performance Objectives:

Short Term: (0 to 3 months)

  • Learn/train on business units Quality system requirements & Kimball Electronics philosophies and culture
  • Build relationships with team members
  • Learn ERP system (IQMS) navigation, extraction of documents & change order process
  • Learn automated manufacturing lines you are responsible for supporting
  • Learn & understand current process bottlenecks

Midterm: (3 to 6 months)

  • Assist operations with eliminating process waste
  • Design/create tooling, fixtures and equipment
  • Create detailed technical documentation such as manufacturing instructions, maintenance instructions, testing procedures & Engineering reports Implement process improvements to eliminate downtime
  • Assist in validation efforts for commissioning of process improvements
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing training and projects (Six Sigma Green/Black Belt)

Long Term: (6 to 12 months)

  • Lead the engineering responsibilities for a New Product Introduction
  • Lead & support continuous improvement initiatives by working with CI manager
  • Support the manufacturing launch of new/revised products including establishing goals, training team members and evaluating results.
  • Provide input to customer regarding Design for Manufacturing improvements.
  • Perform product/process analysis for quality improvements, cost reductions and improved efficiency.
