Position Overview: The IETS department is seeking an Systems Assurance Specialist to round out our growing team of talented individuals. This role involves learning opportunities through independent study, formal training, mentorship and on the job practice. The goal is for the Systems Assurance Specialist to utilize and develop the knowledge and skills to work autonomously within the IETS Systems Assurance team, performing tasks as required.

Position Summary: Kiewit Infrastructure Engineering seamlessly transitions solutions from design to construction through the collaborative efforts of Design Engineering, Design Management, Proposals, Estimating, and Integrated Project Controls. Our construction-focused engineering approach involves a multidisciplinary team working together to maximize value for clients by improving schedules, controlling costs, and minimizing risk on infrastructure projects. This integrated strategy emphasizes collaboration and constructability throughout the project lifecycle, enabling us to identify and implement quality solutions with a strong safety focus.

Location: This position is based out of our Fairfield, California office with occasional travel to offices and project sites in the US and Canada.

Responsibilities – Corporate: Coordinate, perform and ensure safety & security assurance activities. (RAMS) Coordinate lifecycle safety and security studies ensuring compliance. Maintain System Safety Assurance Plan. Apply risk and safety and security assurance methodologies. Attend periodic safety reviews. Coordinate interfaces. Support findings closure. Assist or lead in the development of PHA, FMECA, FTA, IHA, TVA. OSHA. Assist in producing a Safety Case.

Project Responsibilities - Design Phase: Ensure system-level safety and security. Manage safety and security documentation & requirements. Maintain GSAP, PHA, Dangerous Situations Register. Support system/software certifications. Disseminate safety security measures / mitigations Manage transfers between providers. Integrate security measures.

Project Responsibilities – Construction Phase: Elemental Risk Analysis (RWA) Consolidation of security requirements for internal and external interfaces List of Safety-Critical Components Control plan for safety-critical components Preparation and implementation of safety tests and tests Finalization of the hazardous occurrence register (RSD)

Qualifications: The individual must be inquisitive and willing to learn about a wide variety of rail systems requirements as part of the team. The candidate should have a technical basis in engineering (from academics and work experience, ideally with professional consulting work experience) and have technical written and oral communication skills as the role will frequently involve collaboration with clients, contractors, and other engineering firms in a Infrastructure Project advisory and/or delivery environment. The individual will be required to plan, organize, and coordinate work with groups of professionals and technicians. Past experience with direct client interface and complete project life-cycle (design to commissioning) is an asset. A minimum of 5 years working in a Systems Engineering/Systems Assurance/RAMS environment with preference to those with rail transit experience and familiarity with the application of CENELEC standards. Experience in the Systems Engineering lifecycle is an asset, including typical tools for development of requirements (for example, DOORS) Proficiency in common industry software platforms Must have excellent organizational and communication skills Available to work in United States immediately without visa sponsorship Ability to regularly report to corporate and / or project site office Experience working with AI agents and tools preferred
