Senior Supplier Quality Engineer – Electronics

We're looking for a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer – Electronics to play a key role in advancing Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) and Wire Harness quality systems within our global supply base. This role will partner across teams and suppliers to drive product quality, supplier development, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all aspects of quality engineering and project management for suppliers of Printed Circuit Board Assemblies (PCBA), Electronic Components, and Wire Harness assemblies.
- Apply technical expertise in commodity design and manufacturing equipment to collaborate with suppliers on optimal product designs and manufacturing processes.
- Partner with Technology to initiate and lead the 9-step process, using Lean/Six Sigma tools to address issues in NPI and C changes.
- Conduct Critical Part Risk Reviews focused on system performance, reliability, and quality.
- Collaborate with PCBA/Wire Harness suppliers, OEMs, and manufacturing sites to improve electronics initiatives for the business.
- Identify new PCBA/Wire Harness processes, tools, and industry contacts, including new suppliers and technologies, to advance capabilities.
- Drive supplier quality improvement using tools such as the Supplier Composite Scorecard and other data-driven methods.
- Monitor and resolve supplier process control issues by developing quality control plans and implementing sustainable corrective actions.
- Lead efforts to permanently resolve manufacturing and consumer issues caused by supplier defects.
- Manage supplier moves, process/material changes, and support design change projects.
- Implement corrective actions or qualify alternate suppliers as part of supplier quality initiatives.
- Lead problem definition and resolution through containment, root cause identification, and corrective actions using SCAR.
- Prepare concise verbal and written executive summaries to update leadership on complex issues.
- Own Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) requirements associated with supplier changes.
- Perform annual supplier audits to assess QMS (Quality Management System) compliance and effectiveness.
- Identify and deliver cost reduction opportunities within the supply base, including process improvements, quality enhancements, and material usage optimization.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Engineering or Technical (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) degree.
- 3 years of Supplier Quality or Manufacturing Quality experience.
- 3 years of Wire Harness or PCBA related experience.
- Ability to understand electrical and mechanical functions of a variety of EMD components and their role within product systems.
- Strong background in applying statistical tools for process and product development and control (e.g., Gage R&R, Process Capability, Control Plans, SPC, PFMEA, DOE).
- Skilled in reading and interpreting prints, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Experienced with problem-solving tools and techniques (e.g., 8-D, 5 Whys, 7 Ways, DOE, eCAR, Fishbone, Pareto, Six Sigma, First Piece, PPAP).
- Experienced with Wire Harness testing and measurement methods.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Ability to influence and drive change within a matrixed organization.
- Proven ability to independently develop and execute complex project plans globally and domestically.
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (up to 20%).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Electrical or Mechanical Engineering degree.
- 3+ years of experience with Wire Harness or PCBA design or manufacturing.
- Demonstrated ability to simplify complex information and prepare concise executive summaries.
- Prior international work experience and multilingual skills (Chinese, Spanish, etc.).
- Experience in Lean Manufacturing.
- Six Sigma certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, or Master Black Belt).
- Graduate of a GEA training program (OMLP, SCDP, TLP, EEDP).
