Physical Requirements: This position requires regularly sitting at a computer workstation for extended periods of time, and performing tasks with repetitive motions (such as typing); and occasionally standing or walking with objects weighing up to 10 pounds; and lifting, pushing, and/or pulling objects weighing up to 50 pounds. Also involves some exposure to loud noises, cuts/punctures, blood-borne or airborne pathogens, and combative/violent people.
Shift: Week 1: Thursday, Friday, & Saturday 6:45am - 7:15pm
Week 2: Sunday 6:45am - 7:15pm and Wednesday 6:45pm - 7:15am
Pattern: Week one you would work Thursday, Friday and Saturday dayshift. Week two you would work Sunday dayshift and Wednesday night shift. Then you will be off for 7 days returning to week one pattern.

The Patient Access Representative is responsible for providing patient arrivals patient registration resolution of patient complaints collection and verification of demographic information and insurance/payer source information and correction of registration errors collection of patient-responsibility payments at time of service (copays, co-insurance, self-pay estimates) maintain HIPAA compliant and comply with all UKHC policies regarding patient privacy and confidentiality participate in unit and Enterprise activities to improve efficiency, quality, safety, and patient satisfaction.
Has the ability to perform their work in a fast-paced environment. Work independently and complete tasks efficiently, with an attention to detail. Loves helping others in sometimes stressful situations. Ability to keep a professional demeanor when working with patients and families.
The ideal candidate will be customer service oriented; possess patient registration and health insurance knowledge; have the ability to multi-task with a strong emphasis on accuracy and attention to detail; be proficient in Microsoft Office, to include Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel; have excellent communication skills (both written and verbal); have solid time management, critical thinking, follow-through, and planning and organizational skills; and have a high level of respect for confidentiality.

Preferred Education/Experience: Associate degree and at least four years of healthcare customer service experience preferred; previous experience working with patient registration highly preferred.
