Guest Services Representative / Surgical Services

Job Title

Facilitates communication between patients, family, and staff, including resolution of patient/family concerns and issues. Is responsible for notification of family members regarding status of surgical patient updates. Must have a high level of communication skills to effectively communicate with physicians, families, and other clinical staff. Must be able to recognize signs of potential issues within patients and/or family members.

Essential Duties:

• Prepares daily tracking log for surgery check ins in waiting room
• Greets and directs visitors and families.
• Answers telephone and provides/relays messages.
• Maintains patient confidentiality.
• Assists with directing patients and families to pre-op.
• Relays updated information to families throughout the entire time the patient is in pre-op, surgery and phase 1 post-op.
• Escorts families to consult rooms to meet with physicians.
• Assists patients, families, and visitors with hospital-related concerns, questions, and/or problems.
• Promotes cross-departmental communication, collaboration, and performance improvement as a means of achieving patient and family centered care.

Requirements:

• High School /GED
• One year of secretarial experience is preferred.
• Experience in healthcare/ medical terminology preferred
