Field Service Technician

As a Field Service Technician, you'll be at the heart of what we do: diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining Caterpillar machines in the shop. Whether it's a dozer, excavator, wheel loader, haul truck, you'll use your skills and experience to deliver top-tier service that keeps our customers moving. You will work in the shop servicing and performing:

  • Diagnostics and repair on heavy equipment, including Caterpillar engines and drive-train components, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • Perform routine and complex repairs, inspect and maintain equipment, and rebuild components to ensure optimal performance.
  • Additional duties include servicing Air Conditioning systems, maintaining detailed service records, collaborating with fellow technicians on complex repairs, and adhering to all safety protocols within the shop environment.

Competencies:

  • Proficient reading and writing skills
  • Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Familiarity with Caterpillar engine and equipment lines
  • In-depth knowledge of Caterpillar equipment applications, operations, and functions
  • Skilled in using Caterpillar diagnostic tools (Electronic Technician, Service Information System)
  • Expertise in diagnostic, testing, adjustment, and troubleshooting procedures
  • Welding experience is a plus

Job Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required, along with completion of a technical school program (minimum 2 years) focused on diesel or power equipment systems, plus at least 3 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical repair experience with diesel, earthmoving, or industrial equipment

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting/Carrying 40 lb. Lift/Carry and 50lb pulling.
  • Standing, sitting, and climbing up and down stairs, as well as standing, sitting, and climbing into machines.
  • Dexterity Normal.
  • Repetitive Motions: Frequent movements requiring the use of hands, wrists, and fingers.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet in office settings and moderate to loud in other situations, with both constant and sudden loud noises possible.
