Responsible for understanding the IEC 61000 test standards and related ETPs, completing requested testing per the standard, and documenting the results per the lab's ISO 17025 quality policies. This position tests all GEA products. This role works closely with engineering to ensure standards are followed during test setup, execution, and reporting. The individual should have 3 years' experience in a lab testing environment with demonstrated attention to detail and communication.
Apply unique technical expertise and in-depth knowledge of appliances, software, and related industry standards to review test plans to ensure appropriateness, modify test setups as required, and calibrate the test environment.
Interpret test standards to confirm setup and the appropriate method to use to determine test stability, a valid test, and produce a test summary report per ISO 17025 Lab Quality Manual.
Validate and maintain lab hardware and software.
Move engineering samples between the test area, preparation area, and storage areas.
Understanding of EMI Lab test equipment and instrumentation (coupling/decoupling networks, signal generators, surge generators, power meters, and antenna). Able to troubleshoot test setup, confirm required accuracy is met, and knowledgeable of routine validation steps.
Thorough understanding of standards (ETP, UL, AHAM, CFR, ANSI.)
Ability to independently lead work with minimal supervision, exercising sound judgment to set priorities, resolve issues, and drive results aligned with business objectives.
Proven capability to manage multiple priorities through strong time management, organizational discipline, and attention to detail, ensuring commitments are met in a dynamic, schedule-driven environment.
Demonstrated mechanical and electrical aptitude for unit setup with lab testing fixtures.
An understanding of how various appliance platforms and models operate and fail is preferred. Knowledgeable on how to perform hi-pot and current leakage on multiple product lines.
Preferred Qualifications:
Working conditions are normal for an office environment and a lab. Physically capable of supporting hands-on lab operations, including movement and management of large appliances (refrigerators, automatic icemakers, and large Monogram refrigerators), while ensuring safe work practices and mentoring others on proper handling. May require occasional weekend work.
