Controls Engineer

As a Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing, maintaining, and enhancing automation control systems that are essential to the production and assembly of automotive seating. You will support the maintenance department by troubleshooting equipment issues, including PLC ladder logic and data handling functions in Control Logix processors. Additionally, you will maintain PLC documentation and an archive of PLC programs and machine control drawings.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and improve automation control systems for automotive seating production.
  • Assist the maintenance department in troubleshooting equipment issues.
  • Maintain PLC documentation and an archive of programs and drawings.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and improve automated equipment including devices, I/O, instruments, and other components.
  • Support various I/O devices connected to PLCs, including HMIs, scanners, and servo drives.
  • Improve equipment uptime and contribute to plant reliability maintenance.
  • Schedule and complete backups of electronic machine control and robotic programs.
  • Develop and maintain Preventive Maintenance Programs.
  • Diagnose problems with hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical systems.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain Fanuc and Motoman/Yaskawa Robot systems.
  • Setup, troubleshoot, and monitor torque tool systems.

Essential Skills:

  • Experience in PLC programming and troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Controls Engineering.
  • Knowledge of Allen Bradley systems.
  • Experience with Robotics, including Fanuc and Motoman/Yaskawa.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD.
  • Experience in manufacturing and automotive engineering.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Ability to work as the sole controls engineer on the shift.
  • Capability to handle electronic and mechanical interfacing systems.

Work Environment:

The position is for the 2nd shift, from 4:00 PM to 2:30 AM, Monday through Friday, with some Saturdays possibly required for project work and, on rare occasions, some Sundays. The role averages 50 hours per week. You will work in a clean manufacturing environment, outside of the foam area.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Georgetown, Kentucky.

Pay and Benefits:

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $48.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
