Three days a week M, T, & W 0630-1500. Call requirements are one day a week and one weekend every fourth weekend. The Surgical Technologist serves as primary scrub person or assistant for operative procedures. Assist the RN with circulating duties as needed to carry out the implementation of appropriate interventions. Primary duties include scrubbing, setting up cases, passing instruments, and assisting the physician. The Surgical Technologist can cut suture material as directed by the surgeon and apply electrocautery to clamps on bleeders under the direct supervision of the surgeon. Works with circulator, orderlies, and other room staff to perform post-case cleaning duties.
Surgical Technologists must graduate from a Surgical Technologist program or have comparable military training. Certification is required. Must have good written and verbal skills; must frequently work under pressure. Must be able to follow instructions explicitly as not to compromise patient care.
