Assistant Professor, Engineering & Technology Management

The department of Engineering Sciences at Morehead State University is accepting applications for a full-time position as an Assistant Professor, Engineering & Technology Management. The anticipated start date is August 10, 2026. The Department offers Bachelor of Science programs in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Space Systems Engineering, Physics, Geosciences, Technology Management, and Engineering Technology, as well as Master of Science degrees in Space Systems Engineering and Engineering Technology Management. A Doctor of Engineering program will be offered beginning in Fall 2026.

Morehead State University is located in Morehead, KY, a designated Kentucky Trail Town, nestled in the Daniel Boone National Forest, in close proximity to Cave Run Lake. Responsibilities

Teach face to face and online graduate and undergraduate courses in computer integrated manufacturing (automation), programable logic controllers (PLC), robotics engineering, mechatronics engineering, computer aided design, artificial intelligence in manufacturing, tool and equipment design, CNC programming, smart manufacturing, and virtual reality. The candidates are expected to conduct scholarly research, advise students, participate in departmental and university service, and develop engineering-related courses and laboratories.

Requirements

Candidates will have an earned Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or closely related discipline. Excellent teaching skills and proficiency in oral and written communication are required. ABDs with completion by December 2026 may be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Teaching experience in a higher education environment, industrial experience, and/or professional licenses/certifications and experience in teaching courses via distance learning technology desired. The ability to publish in scholarly journals and seek funding, either for research or laboratory/curriculum development, will be expected of the successful candidates. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong interest in professional development, research, and outreach activities at the local, national, and international levels.
