KBR is seeking a part-time Mission Systems Engineer for the Science, Engineering, and Operations Division (SEO), who will support a mix of on contract and new business growth opportunities for both the division and the larger Science and Space business unit.

Responsibilities

  • Support government and commercial programs, project teams, personnel, and special projects.
  • Provide management and technical positioning for major NASA service contract capture efforts.
  • Determine future space capability roadmap needs (next 5-10 years), architectures, and system-level opportunities.
  • Support development and definition activities to include stakeholder engagement and customer needs.
  • Develop concepts of operations for new capabilities and coordinate them across the organization.
  • Advise on satellite subsystems, satellite mission support ground systems, instrument systems, launch support, and range operations.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge of spacecraft and observatory systems engineering as well as core spacecraft engineering disciplines.
  • Communicate via presentations, white papers, briefings on varied solutions to engineering and business development senior leadership.

Required Education/Experience

  • Education: Must have a Master’s in STEM (science, technical, engineering, math) or related discipline.
  • Years of Experience: 25 in the discipline engineering, systems engineering, and project engineering for space missions. 10 years of experience managing major NASA missions or their elements.
  • US Citizenship: and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance

Preferred Education/Experience

  • PhD in relevant field
  • NASA GSFC or HQ work and leadership experience
  • NASA contractor work and leadership experience
  • Knowledge of NASA’s decadal programs, strategic agency directives, mission directorate initiatives and agency-wide communications systems.

Basic Compensation

$207,500K - $311,200K

This is for the Maryland area only

The offered rate will be based on the selected candidate’s working location, knowledge, skills, abilities, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.

Additional Compensation: KBR may offer bonuses, commissions, or other forms of compensation to certain job titles or levels, per internal policy or contractual designation. Additional compensation may be in the form of sign on bonus, relocation benefits, short-term incentives, long-term incentives, or discretionary payments for exceptional performance.
