Aerospace System Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled system Engineer to join our team. This position focuses on projects related to chronographs, including modeling, integration, and working with fly software on avionics for Helio-physics long-duration space missions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and refine optical modes for chronograph systems.
  • Ability to work all phases of system/subsystems from concept study to final testing.
  • Develop assembly and test procedures and support all levels of system/subsystem integration and tests.
  • Work with fly software on avionics for Helio-physics projects.
  • Support trade studies and recommend system architecture and design approach.
  • Work with other engineers, technicians, manufacturing and quality engineers in a team environment.
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations and support project level reviews.
  • Write test procedures, plans & reports as necessary.

Minimum Requirements:

  • BS degree in Optical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of five years of experience supporting projects at GSFC.
  • Solid understanding of the NASA flight software and hardware development process and methodology.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong background in optical systems and coronagraph technology.
  • Strong knowledge of flight software development at GSFC.
  • Comfortable working in a cross disciplinary environment to develop and implement new designs, or help trouble-shoot existing ones.
  • Able to perform system trade studies, system optimization, tolerance and performance analysis.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrate ethical and professional behavior in accordance with company values.
  • Experience in the development and qualification of Flight Optical Systems is preferred.

Basic Compensation: $96,900.00 - $145,400.00

The offered rate will be based on contract affordability and the selected candidate's working location, knowledge, skills, and/or experience and in consideration of internal parity.
