At the Aging Research Center (ARC) within the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society (NVS) at Karolinska Institutet, world-leading research is conducted in the fields of aging, dementia, epidemiology, and care sciences. The research spans from basic research at the molecular and cellular level to clinical studies and research at the societal level. NVS, with approximately 540 employees and a turnover of 530 million SEK in 2023, consists of seven departments and is located at Campus Flemingsberg and Campus Solna.
The Aging Research Center (ARC), a department within NVS, is located at KI Campus Solna, Stockholm. ARC is a multidisciplinary research environment encompassing three main scientific directions: medical epidemiology, psychology, and social gerontology. The center has around 70 employees and places a strong emphasis on research with access to unique research resources, such as large longitudinal studies and national registers.
We are seeking a research assistant for a project focused on investigating how adult neurogenesis in the hippocampus affects memory and mental health. The project utilizes advanced neuroimaging techniques, including magnetic resonance spectroscopy and functional magnetic resonance imaging, to deepen the understanding of the neurobiological mechanisms contributing to cognitive aging and psychological well-being.

This position offers an opportunity to acquire in-depth knowledge and skills in neuroimaging and cognitive neuroscience. It is particularly suitable for a candidate with a documented interest in memory, aging, and mental health.
This is a full-time (100%) temporary position for 12 months.
The successful candidate is expected to have:
1. A degree in cognitive neuroscience or a related field.
2. Documented experience in programming in R and/or Matlab.
3. Experience in the collection and analysis of neuroimaging data.
4. Excellent knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written.
5. Strong ability to collaborate, work structured and accurately, and drive one’s own work forward independently.
