Position Summary: This position is distinguished by the complexity of work that requires a degree in engineering or significant industry experience and advanced knowledge of aerospace structural component manufacturing processes. Lays out, fabricates, assembles, and repairs jigs, fixtures, forms, templates, and related tooling used in manufacturing aircraft parts and assemblies, following blueprints, sketches, Catia data sets and specifications, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment. Reviews engineering information, tool design drawings/models, and other specifications to determine methods and sequence of operations to fabricate tools. Provides planning, direction, and coordination for all technical activities for tool design and manufacture while monitors performance to estimates, budgets and organization goals. Participates in development of manufacturing, engineering, and quality process standards when tooling is required. Participates in developing organization and department goals and objectives. Administers personnel functions including recruiting, hiring, review and approval of job descriptions, selection and placement of personnel, performance evaluations. Controls department/project budgets and directs preparation of budget requests. Ensures compliance of company policies, procedures, and objectives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages and trains an engineering team and coordinates activities of engineering department to design, plan, process, project, develop, produce, improve, and test components, products, systems, and services.
- Provides planning, direction, and coordination for all technical activities while monitors performance to estimates, budgets and organization goals.
- Participates in development of manufacturing, engineering and quality process standards.
- Participates in developing organization and department goals and objectives.
- Gives input on and controls department budget.
- Ensures compliance of company policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Identify and solve problems with root cause corrective actions (RCCA).
- Provide technical cost reduction solutions.
- Work with customer design engineering to determine the manufacturability of the parts to meet customer and quality requirements at a minimum cost.
- Investigate and resolve manufacturing process problems.
- Develops improved process machinery, tooling and processes.
- Examines blueprint of part for which template, jig, fixture, or other tooling is to be built.
- Sets up and operates variety of machines and shop equipment to cut, shape, and finish materials to specified dimensions.
- Fits, aligns, and assembles tooling components, and measures tooling assembly for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring and checking instruments.
- Joins assembly components, using bolts, pins, clamps, screws, rivets, or other method.
- Repairs or reworks tools.
- May draw sketches and prepare detailed instructions for fabricating or machining to be performed by other workers.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime as necessary.
- Acceptable attendance is an essential function of the position.
- Report to work on time, follow instructions, interact well co-workers, understand and follow work rules and procedures.

Position Requirements:
A four-year Engineering degree and 5 years experience in an Aerospace Engineering discipline or a minimum of 8 years experience in a Manufacturing Engineering discipline is required.
