Quality Engineer

The Quality Systems Engineer position offers an opportunity to provide technical support to the quality and engineering groups, ensuring compliance with AS9100 processes and procedures. The role involves reviewing both external and internal nonconformances, coordinating investigations, and performing RCCA analysis. As a focal point for Internal MRB activities and Customer corrective actions, you will contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) by engaging in functions such as first articles, calibration tracking, customer source inspections, planning verifications, and buyoffs.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the QMS system by developing or creating new procedures and processes.
  • Track, monitor, analyze, and report performance KPIs and department WIG goals.
  • Handle customer corrective action requests and change of charge submittals.
  • Create inspection plans and key characteristic/SPC captures.
  • Serve as a team member on the AS9100 internal audit team and assist with customer and third-party audits.
  • Participate in problem-solving teams to support RCCA activities and MRB-related functions.
  • Support planning verifications, job instruction reviews, and MBD drawing approvals.
  • Contribute to efforts around APQP, building control plans, PPAP, and FMEA implementation.
  • Engage in new work meetings to ensure product quality and compliance requirements are understood.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficiency in quality engineering and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints with a working knowledge of GD&T.
  • Experience with aerospace requirements and quality concepts.
  • Knowledge of AS9102 and experience creating FAI reports in Net-Inspect.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) for interaction with customers and auditors.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills.

Additional Skills & Qualifications:

  • Audit support and data analysis capabilities.
  • Experience with calibration and inspection processes.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 systems, APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and auditing processes.
  • A positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to collaborate effectively.

Work Environment:

The role offers a mix of office and manufacturing settings, involving documentation, reporting, and audits in an office environment, and inspections, MRB activities, and quality checks on the production floor. The position is fast-paced and detail-oriented, requiring strong organizational and time management skills. You will work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment with frequent interaction with engineering, production, and quality teams, as well as direct communication with customers and auditors. The work is compliance-driven, revolving around strict aerospace standards (AS9100, AS9102) and continuous improvement initiatives, with a strong focus on problem-solving through involvement in RCCA, MRB, and quality improvement projects.

Job Type & Location:

This is a Permanent position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits:
