This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to Outdoor Recreation on McConnell AFB. Responsibilities include monitoring and overseeing the day to day "ground" activities of the Outdoor Recreation operations. This includes overseeing storage, maintenance, and repair of all ODR non-appropriated and appropriated fund equipment and vehicles. The role also involves scheduling required maintenance by priority and providing budget based on need and customer demand. It identifies unserviceable items to the ODR Director and prepares paperwork for proper disposition. The specialist recommends replacement items and new equipment to enhance operations, performs quality assurance inspections, maintains equipment inventories, and develops checklists for equipment preventative maintenance, customer inspections, required safety briefings, and equipment returns. Training ODR maintenance staff on proper service techniques, emphasizing safety practices, and documenting the training is also part of the job. The specialist oversees the day-to-day operations of the Fam-Camps and RV storage lot areas, ensuring areas are clean and maintained in an organized manner. They identify operational, security, and safety deficiencies and take actions to rectify those deficiencies. The specialist works with the ODR programming, providing logistical and staffing support for activity programs. They are the POC for hazardous materials, ensuring compliance and proper documentation of all regulatory requirements. The role ensures compliance with EEO, OSHA, and any other pertinent regulations, directives, or instructions. Interviews and selects maintenance staff, prepares work schedules, assigns duties, enforces standards, provides training, evaluates performance, initiates personnel actions, submits employees for recognition, resolves grievances, keeps staff informed, and maintains employee records. The specialist provides "hands on" maintenance support, dependent on manning and demand. They may represent ODR and/or the FSS squadron on various committees or activities and may act on behalf of the ODR Director in their absence. The position works under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Director. It is a position of trust.
