Co-Op Engineer (Quality, Process, Manufacturing)
The Atlas Group, a growing business that has long been part of the Wichita community, is looking for Engineering students to join our team as Co-Op employees. This position is responsible for:
- Evaluate manufacturing, delivery, customer experience, or other systems and identify ways to improve productivity, effectiveness and quality
- Collect data on processes and production through observations of work activities, discussions with employees, hands on participation, etc.
- Analyze data to identify trends and areas for improvement
- Design processes, systems, or enhancements to maximize productivity, efficiency, or space
- Work established projects that drive improvement i.e., cost, space utilization, etc.
- Collaborate with other departments to develop and implement recommendations for improving quality, productivity, performance and space utilization
- Present analysis and recommendations to management and other stakeholders
Duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned:
- Coordinate containment of suspect NC material in stock and WIP and document results.
- Ability to take raw data, separate it into its component parts and put it into a form that is easily understood.
- Ability to take raw data from numerous sources and compile it into a single presentation that is clear and concise.
- Ability to interpret instructions from different people to establish and develop desirable result of any charts and graphs needed.
- Knowledgeable in Microsoft Excel Power Query is a plus.
- Knowledge in SPC is a plus.
- Provide real time shop floor support for quality investigations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.
- Participate in established projects to drive product Quality, cost reduction, space efficiency, etc.
Qualifications:
- Experience in collecting data, graphing in many different ways to assist in goal setting, process improvement opportunities, and monthly, quarterly, and yearly report out measurements.
- Familiar in the use of GD&T, MS Office, and MRP/ERP systems.
- Ability to participate on cross-functional improvement teams.
Knowledge, Skills and Other Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of MRP systems
- Team oriented
- Detail oriented with meticulous work habits
Math Ability: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.
Education/Experience: Must have completed sophomore year within program of study Must be willing to work 20-30 hours per week.
