Location of Employment: Fifth Judicial District, Lyon County, Kansas

Job Duties:

This employment requires the supervision of adults and juveniles placed on probation by the District Courts. This includes the preparation of detailed adult and juvenile investigative reports for the District Court. An incumbent in the position maintains chronological records of contacts with clients and of the caseload in general, prepares reports related to the transfer of supervision, progress reports and reports of violations of probation. Supervision, counseling, and report writing skills will be used daily. This position works with clients in identifying their needs and referring them to appropriate agencies for assistance and requires working with the community in developing and in using their resources.

Specific Requirements:

Supervise general assignment caseload or other specific caseload as directed by Chief CSO; keep documentation on all contacts; utilize the Tyler Supervision Case Management System in all cases; verify completion of all court ordered conditions of probation; prepare presentence investigative reports in both adult and juvenile cases; complete administrative requirements including statistics and correspondence with other agencies and the public; supervise collection of restitution and costs; comply with requirements of state mandated as well as local policies and procedures; and perform any additional duties as required by the Chief CSO or the Court.

Education and Experience:

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university. Preferred major course work in corrections, counseling, criminology, psychology, social work, sociology or related field.

Additional Desired Qualifications:

Knowledge of interviewing techniques. Knowledge of individual counseling techniques. Knowledge of English usage and written communication format. Ability to communicate information concisely and accurately so that others can comprehend the ideas being conveyed.
