Position Title and Salary: Court Services Officer I, grade 36, $28.78 hourly

Job Duties

The duties of this position include the supervision of family court cases under of the District Court and the preparation of detailed reports for the court. This person may also support the Adult departments with duties.

Work involves supervision of a divorce/paternity caseload or other specific caseload as directed by the Department's CSOIII. The person in this position will be required to interview parents, children and professional references regarding the case and have the ability to compile all information into a report, as well as making recommendations to the Court regarding the best interest of the children and/or resources for the families. This position also includes conducting dispute resolution (mediation, parenting coordination) with families as it relates to parenting plans and co-parenting matters, facilitating co-parenting education classes; and performing any additional duties as required by the CSOIII, Chief CSO or the Court.

Certification in Mediation, WRNA, or LSCMI must be obtained within 12 months (if not already), and those certifications maintained while employed. All training is provided.

Required Education and Experience

Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major course work in psychology, sociology, counseling, corrections, criminology, or a closely related field.

All applicants are subject to a name-based criminal history background check. Must have a valid Driver's License and means of transportation. If employed by Court Services, the new employee must pass a fingerprint-based background check within the first 30 days of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of the family court or child welfare/criminal justice field.
  • Experience in caseload management.
  • Ability to multitask and have excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely, verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient use of current computer programs and technology.
  • Professional, courteous, and cooperative in demeanor.
  • Ability to speak Spanish is helpful
