Pharmacy Operations Master's Intern

Pharmacy Continuum effectively bridges pharmacy care delivery during patient transitions from one level of care/care setting to another; ensures pharmacy-related programs across the continuum are compliant with regulatory requirements; works on increasing affordability through enhanced workflow efficiency and spread of pharmacy best practices; enhances safety of medication therapy and quality of pharmacy service across the continuum; drives innovation by embracing technology and transforming the pharmacy workforce.

Projects will ultimately be tailored to your core interests and skillsets and will be aligned with our current priorities. Projects may involve: collaborating with key stakeholders involved with various parts of the Pharmacy Continuum portfolio (e.g. Senior Care Strategy, Skilled Nursing Facilities, Palliative Care/Hospice/End of Life Options, Care at Home/Home Health, etc.) to gather, document, and analyze business requirements, processes, and workflows for new clinical programs; working closely with Pharmacy leads to develop business case(s) for new programs as required; assisting Pharmacy Leads with internal/external communications and marketing of new programs; collaborating cross-departmentally on performance improvement or joint educational initiatives. Some examples of potential projects for the 2026 Summer Master's Internship include:

  • Develop Rx Continuum quarterly newsletter template/publish 1st edition (communications)
  • Create quarterly/biannual (twice yearly) regional pharmacy managers collaborative: showcase of projects/pilots across service lines/kickoff 1st meeting (care coordination)
  • Survey national/international professional organizations to identify opportunities to publish/present at conferences (people)
  • Support Rx Continuum pilots with playbook development, presentations e.g. Care Plus, MCC, Palliative Care, etc. (operations/project management)

Interns will also have the opportunity to participate in projects relating to their own professional development including but not limited to: leading thought-provoking discussions on topics such as AI in healthcare, competitive analyses, and global healthcare trends; participating in networking/meet & greets with director/executive level Pharmacy/Healthcare leaders; presenting at an internship capstone along with other Pharmacy interns.

We are looking for an intern who is proactive and self-motivated, possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills, values cross-departmental collaboration and innovation. Intern should be highly organized, demonstrate attention to detail with superior follow-through. Intern should proficiently utilize Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Having experience in data analysis and reporting tools (e.g. Sharepoint) is preferred, but not required.

This position provides analytical support to a project or department. Under the guidance of a Project Manager/ Director, responsible for collecting and researching data, performing analysis, providing recommendations and presenting results.

Essential responsibilities:

  • Responsible for contributing high level analytical support to a project or department requiring application of knowledge in marketing, information management, finance, management, economics or statistics. This position contributes to a full range of project components.
  • Assigned to at least one project and expected to produce results and report out as a member of a project team. Organizes assigned project tasks, identifies and structures information collection activities, and sets time lines for completion of required tasks as directed.
  • Develops tools to identify and to document best practices. Prepares various excel, word or PowerPoint reports, and works with access database software (or similar tool) to develop data extracts and management information reports. May be asked to produce graphic information using excel or PowerPoint or similar software.
  • Contributes to development of management information and analysis conducted, provides recommendations and assists with preparation of formal presentations to communicate results to various management levels. Identifies alternative solutions to project issues. Contributes to development project plans to ensure timely deliverables and successful completion of project and demonstrates an understanding of various business intersections. Assists with identification and development of training information.
  • Kaiser Permanente conducts compensation reviews of positions on a routine basis. Basic qualifications:

  • Enrolled in or recent graduate of a MBA or other Masters level program with an accredited college or university.

Additional requirements:

  • Solid analytical skills, problem solving, project management and critical thinking.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to utilize at a working level Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access.
  • Must be able to work in a Labor/ Management Partnership environment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Knowledge of SQL or SAS highly desirable.
