Lead Engineering Technician
The Lead Engineering Technician will oversee the daily operations of the engineering department, provide technical guidance and support, and ensure the maintenance, repair, and operation of equipment and systems meet safety and performance standards. This role requires strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to coordinate team efforts while maintaining a focus on safety, efficiency, and quality.
The Lead Engineering Technician is responsible for the following:
- Supervise and lead the engineering team, providing guidance, training, and mentorship.
- Oversee routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs of equipment, facilities, and systems.
- Assist in developing and implementing preventative maintenance programs.
- Troubleshoot complex technical issues and provide timely solutions.
- Ensure compliance with safety, health, and environmental regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments to prioritize work orders and projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, and inspections.
- Assist in planning and executing small to large-scale projects and improvements.
- Facilitate communication between the engineering team and management, ensuring strong communication across departments, vendors, and upper management.
- Manage vendor relationships, including negotiations, scheduling, and ensuring quality of service.
- Support the onboarding and training of new technical staff.
- Evaluate and recommend new equipment, tools, and technologies to improve operational efficiency.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in technical maintenance, repair, or engineering in a similar environment.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively liaise with departments, vendors, and management.
- Good understanding of safety standards and regulations.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
- Strong organizational and planning skills.
- Certification or technical training relevant to the industry (such as HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or facility management) is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform physical tasks including lifting, climbing, and operating tools and equipment.
- Availability for on-call or after-hours emergency work as needed.
Pay Rate: $31.00/hour
