A GFO Post Sales Engineer is part of the GFO Post Sales Engineering Team at Johnson Controls and reports to the GFO Team Lead Design Engineering.
A GFO Engineer spends at least 85% of available time on project-related work; the remaining 15% is intended for (self) training to ensure excellent professional knowledge.
A GFO Engineer ensures that work is performed at a high quality level, in accordance with applicable procedures, standards, and legal norms and requirements as established by Johnson Controls and/or the customer.
COMPLEXITY
A GFO Engineer is responsible for managing multiple projects simultaneously, each differing in content, complexity, and scope. The primary task is to design, program/configure, and test high-quality technical designs and software. This ensures that project teams can carry out their tasks quickly and effectively.
Therefore, a Design Engineer must possess extensive knowledge, efficient planning skills, clear communication skills, and accurate documentation practices. Since the employees of the Post Sales Engineering teams are spread across multiple locations in different countries, English is usually the common working language.
RESPONSIBILITIES
A GFO Engineer is responsible for:
- managing multiple designs (projects), varying in content, complexity, and scope;
- converting contractual requirements into optimal designs, while limiting risks and reporting deviations;
- high-quality functional solutions and software designs, including correct configuration and thorough testing;
- detailed documentation and safe, constructive collaboration with other teams;
- current knowledge and skills, efficient planning, and clear communication with stakeholders.
TASKS
A GFO Engineer is responsible for:
- receiving and analyzing technical requirements and contractual documents;
- developing technical functional hardware and software designs based on contract documents, regulations, and guidelines;
- preparing a Bill of Material (BOM) for projects;
- maintaining detailed documentation for designs and configurations;
- providing instructions, advice, and support to project teams during the implementation phase;
- constructively collaborating with other teams to ensure project success;
- keeping knowledge and skills up-to-date;
- contributing to the creation and maintenance of ISO-9001 processes, procedures, and instructions;
- providing advice to the sales organization during pre-bid activities and to the service organization during post-project activities, upon request.
QUALIFICATIONS
REQUIRED DEGREES/CERTIFICATES
- bachelor in Electrical Engineering or equivalent through demonstrable experience;
- safety certificate for contractors or willingness to undergo training;
- impeccable conduct and willingness to demonstrate this through formal proof of good conduct and morals;
- good language skills in the local language and certainly in English;
- excellent knowledge of MS Office applications such as Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
- excellent knowledge and ability to acquire knowledge of system-oriented configuration tools and software within the field.
